“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

–Psalm 139:23-24

I once heard it said that sometimes it is comforting to know that God knows everything…and sometimes it isn’t so great. A few years ago, I did a Bible study by Kristen Sauder called The God Seeker. In it, she wrote, “My Heavenly Father is the one friend who has seen it all: my gross, embarrassing, addictive sins; the messes that I’ve chosen (against His advice) to dive into; tear swollen eyes, throbbing head, broken heart. My husband knows me well, but only my God knows me fully… many times your own heart will keep secrets. You may think you’ve opened every door for the Master’s entrance, but Jeremiah 17:9 teaches otherwise.”

Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Mrs. Sauder explained that “one of the best ways to allow God access to every nook and cranny of your soul is to invite Him verbally.”

Have you invited God into your heart? I’m not just talking about when you first accepted Him as your Lord and Savior. I’m talking about every day, every moment of our sinful, earthly lives. God knows everything and always will. He knows everything from what you are thinking to what you are eating for dinner.

Cry out to Him and let Psalm 139: 23-24 be your prayer: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” It doesn’t matter what you’re doing or where you’re coming from. God loves you more than you could EVER imagine. He wants you to call on Him and to know Him personally.

So, take a moment out of your busy day and ask Him to search your heart. I can assure you – you will be blessed!

In Christ,

Hi! I’m Macy, a bondservant of Jesus Christ and saved by His amazing grace. I’m sixteen years old and I’m homeschooled along with my three sweet, younger sisters. I really enjoy studying God’s Word, playing games as a family, playing the piano, and writing. I also love seeing how God works through each and every circumstance! He is so good! One of my favorite Bible verses is: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
