Our Athleisure Clothes

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
– John 17:3

Athleisure. I recently heard this word for the first time. It is two words mixed together: athletic and leisure. It is the trend of wearing athletic clothes, but not actually doing the uncomfortable thing – working out. People wear these clothes because they feel comfortable in them. So often, our spiritual life is like this. We want to go to church and look like we are Christians, but we don’t want to have to go through the hardships of explaining to others why we live a certain way or why we believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven. We do what a Christian writer, Bob Goff, called “stalking” Jesus. We get to know everything there is to know about Him, but we don’t know Him personally. 1 John 3:1 says, “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God.” We act like Christian paparazzi when God has given us the chance to be His children!

This year, let’s quit “stalking” Jesus. Let’s gain a true relationship with our Heavenly Father. Let’s not just wear our spiritual athleisure clothes, but actually work out our faith.

In Christ,

Hi! I’m Macy, a bondservant of Jesus Christ and saved by His amazing grace. I’m sixteen years old and I’m homeschooled along with my three sweet, younger sisters. I really enjoy studying God’s Word, playing games as a family, playing the piano, and writing. I also love seeing how God works through each and every circumstance! He is so good! One of my favorite Bible verses is: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
