“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
-1 John 2:6
It seems like Christmas goes by faster every year. If you are anything like me, you still have some of the gifts you received laying on your bedroom floor, still trying to figure out where you are going to store them. Some of it will be stuck in a closet and others will be proudly displayed on a shelf in your bedroom where everyone can see it.
Most people that have grown up in a Christian environment have heard at Christmas time that Jesus is our gift from God. But Christmas is over, and this gift is “lying on our bedroom floor.” We have been given Jesus’ saving grace – will we stick it in a closet and forget about it, or will we proudly proclaim His death and resurrection to those around us?
One of my family’s favorite books, “Love Does” (by Bob Goff), shares a neat story on this. Mr. Goff talks about how he owned a Jeep and one day someone ran into it. Because of the accident, it leaked oil – wherever it went. People could tell where the Jeep had been because of the oil spots. He went on to say that, as Christians, we need to “leak Jesus” wherever we go – spread the gospel and act like Him.
May this be a challenge to you in this new year: Don’t leave Jesus “stuffed in a closet” as something you pull out when you are older. Leak Jesus wherever you go so that more people will hear of what Christ has done for us!
Keep on for Him!
