“Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her.”
I can’t believe it’s almost Mother’s Day…it seems that it sneaks up on me each year!
One thing that all of us have in common is that we all have a mother and a father, and God has greatly blessed me with parents who honor Him and who have diligently taught us His ways (as it is said in Deuteronomy 6). My mom is a Proverbs 31 woman (my dad can testify to this!), and it’s cool how towards the end of the chapter, it talks about how “her children rise up and call her blessed.”
My mom has poured her life into homeschooling me and my siblings, and that is something I am so grateful for…that decision that she and my dad made a long time ago has given me a solid Biblical foundation to go out into the world with, and it is a legacy that I plan to pass on to my children when I have a family. She has, ever since we were little, taught us to go to the Lord with everything and to seek Him first in all things.
In a couple weeks, I will graduate from our homeschool, and that chapter of hands-on instruction that she’s been involved in for the last 12 years with me will close. On one hand, it’s a little sad to see it ending. But on the other, it will be the reaching of a goal we’ve been working togethers towards for 12 years! She has poured herself into teaching, and she has run her race well.
In the next verse of Proverbs 31, we find out what her husband says of her, and I think this applies to her in every way:
“Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there…I know some AMAZING moms. You guys set high standards for the next generation. 😉
