“He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” –Deuteronomy 2:7
The Israelites had been wondering in the desert for 40 years. God had promised to give them the land of Canaan, but after their spies went into the land to see what it was like, the people had refused to do so…they had asked to be taken back to Egypt! They complained and asked God why He had led them out of Egypt just to have them killed at the hands of their enemies. They completely forgot that God had specifically promised to be with them as they fought for their new land.
After the forty years were up, the Israelites were getting ready to enter into the Promised Land. And before they go, God gives them assurance that He is still with them, that even through those forty years, He was there and the Israelites lacked nothing.
How comforting! Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold youwith my righteous right hand.” Obey God and leave all of the consequences to Him.
Hebrews 13:5 says, “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'”
He will never forsake us once we enter into a relationship with Him. That is our assurance. Whatever you are going through today, remember that God is with you, and that even through the difficult times in the past, He has been with you.
