“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.”
When life hurts…that’s when we are tested the most, isn’t it? It’s when the rubber meets the road. Will we hang on to God’s promises or give in to our limited vision?
In Romans 8:28, Paul says that all things are worked together by God for the good of those who love Him. We either choose to trust this promise or not. If we’re abiding in Christ, we do not need to fear, because God is in control and using every situation for our good.
Sometimes it feels like we’ve had the air knocked out of us by what someone said…sometimes it’s a wound that keeps being reopened…sometimes it’s the loss of a person we know and love.
But our confidence isn’t in the things of this world. It’s in Christ.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” –John 16:33
All we can do is fix our eyes on the cross and run our own race. And no, that doesn’t mean that life won’t hurt. It hurts all the time! It’s part of the fallen world we live in. But we must focus on the end result: that He has overcome and that He is working all things for good for those who love Him.
