“And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.’” -Luke 2:13-14
I can’t believe it’s already December! This year has flown by.
On Sunday at our church, we sang “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and as I was thinking about something to post about, that song came into my head. There are certain points in the song that somehow make everyone singing it do so at the top of their lungs…“Joyful, all ye nations rise; join the triumph of the skies!” Just picture this! The shepherds are out tending their flocks, and then all of a sudden, a host of angels join in the sky and sing about the birth of the Messiah! How triumphant that song was! He was born! Join the triumph of the skies.
“Mild He lays His glory by, born that man no more may die, born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.” Christ gave up His glory of heaven and traded it for a dirty, dusty manger, just to save us and be our Savior! He was born to die and died so we could live.
So as you sing these Christmas songs over the next couple weeks, really try to picture and understand the lyrics. Sing them with our heart. They are the songs of triumph for those who have been saved by Christ!
