“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
When someone says the word worship, the first thing most people think of is music. Music is the number one way most Christians worship God, from thousands of years ago all the way to today. God delights in us singing praises to Him. Psalms 100:2 says, “Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.” While worshiping God through singing is very beautiful in the eyes of the Lord, there is something about worship that some Christians miss. In Larry Kreider’s book “Hearing God 30 Different Ways,” he states, “Worship is a lifestyle of bringing pleasure to God by the way you live your life. Every activity can be transformed into an act of worship when you do it for the praise, glory, and pleasure of God.”
So, the thing that most Christians miss seeing when looking at the idea of worship is that it’s not just a time where we sing to God- it’s a lifestyle we live. Sometimes, we can get stuck in a rut of thinking that the only way to worship God is through music. But, while that is one aspect of worship, there are so many other ways we can worship God. We can worship Him by the way we live our life, by the words we speak, and by our actions and motives (Romans 12:1, Hebrews 13:15). Romans 12:1 says, “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” I challenge everyone, including myself, to begin living the lifestyle of worshiping God.
