“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.”
A couple weeks ago, I mentioned that I helped to lead a group of 6th graders at VBS. The theme verse for that week was Isaiah 30:21, and I really got a lot out of digging up parallel verses and seeing what it meant.
Here, God is speaking to His people the Israelites…if you’ve ever studied anything about Old Testament history, you know that they had a big problem with serving other gods and forsaking the Lord. And so, the Lord often sent (another example of amazing grace and incredible patience) prophets and messages to His people…and this happened over and over (and over) again. This passage in Isaiah is part of another message from God to His people, the Israelites.
I love the promise He makes…that we, His people, will hear direction. Now, listening to and following it are up to us, but He has promised us that He will show us the way. These verses below also cement the point…the Lord will guide us, and we can trust His Word to show us where we need to be.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Psalm 48:14 says, “For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.”
Hope your week is off to a great start!
