What I Learned at VBS This Week: Part 1

“Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.” -Daniel 6:3

This week, I’ve been helping out at VBS that a local church has been putting on…and it has been awesome (big shout out to any of my 6th grade group reading this)!

A couple days ago, the Bible lesson was on Daniel and we were reading through Daniel 6 when we paused to talk about verse 3, where Daniel was described as having an excellent spirit. This excellent spirit was what set him apart from all the other people in the kingdom.

So, that got me thinking about what God really wants us to be like.

Daniel was a godly man, as is seen by how much time he spent with the Lord and how we was unwilling to compromise when threatened with being thrown in the lions’ den. As a result, his spirit was excellent. This excellent spirit was cultivated by spending time with the Lord and in His Word.

Obviously, as Christians we are supposed to be different. But today, I want to challenge you to be excellent in all that you do. Be set apart.

I’ve heard this quote a couple times, but couldn’t find who it was from…however, this should characterize our behavior as Christians.

“If it’s Christian, it ought to be better.”

That is so true. Christ has saved us…we need the world to see that we are different. Be excellent.

In Christ,
