A Real Legacy

“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew 6:20-21

Today, my family and I visited Liberty University in order to learn more about them as a college option in a couple years. While there, we toured a small “museum” set up to honor Dr. Falwell.

As we went through, it became clear to me that that was what a real Godly legacy looks like. Among many other things, the area was filled with newspaper clippings, books he had written, stories about what he had done, and plaques with his achievements.

One sign that really drew my attention was a list of all the various ministries Dr. Falwell had started over his life- a church, place for pregnant women, pro-life facility, college, law school, deaf and blind ministry, TV program, and the list literally went on and on for a long time. It was huge!

And that got me thinking- what are we focusing our treasures on? Are we making an investment for Christ’s kingdom? Dr. Falwell had an incredible legacy, one that is living on and will continue to live on mightily even though he is no longer alive to actively a difference. He invested in the things of Christ, on the things that would last.

Let that be our mission and purpose.

In Christ,

Christopher
