“I establish My covenant with you; and all flesh shall never again be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.” (Genesis 9:11 NASB)
Out in the area of the country where all of us live, there has been a ton of rain lately…and I mean A TON! It’s been raining pretty consistently for a couple weeks now. Not every day, but it’s been rare for 3 days to go by without some rain.
I was watching the other day as it was pouring down and I was reminded of the great promise we have from God about man being wiped out by a flood (Genesis 9:11). He said that never again would He allow rain and floods to wipe out all of mankind. What an amazing promise! Think about how crazy it would be sometimes if it kept raining and raining and we didn’t have this promise…we would start thinking about how our world has gotten progressively more wicked (just like in Noah’s day) and wonder if God would intervene again like He did in Genesis.
But thankfully, He didn’t leave us to wonder!
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. (Genesis 9:12-15 NIV)
So every time it rain, remember God’s promises. He is faithful.
