Trusting During Trials

stormy sea

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before him; God is a refuge for us.”
Psalm 62:8

Life is a journey. During that journey, there will be trials. Many people believe that when you become a Christian, life will be easy and filled with only good things. First Peter 4:12 says, “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you.” So according to the Bible, a life with no trials is far from the truth.

No one likes trials because of the pain it brings. But if we decide to trust in Jesus during those times, that pain can draw us closer to Him. He can do amazing life changing things to your life if you only trust in Him during the hard times.

Psalms 62:8 says, “Trust in Him at all times, you people, pour out your hearts before Him; God is a refuge for us.” Of course, it’s pretty easy to trust in God when things are going well, but what do you do when life is not all that easy. Do you turn your back on God for allowing the trials to come?

A good example of someone who trusted God during trials is Paul. In 2 Corinthians 11:24-25 Paul wrote, “From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and day I have been in the deep.” As you can see, Paul experienced many trials. But during those times did he turn his back on God? Absolutely not! Listen to what he wrote in Romans 8:18, “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” During trials, Paul decided to trust in God and look through the trial to the eternal glory of one day seeing God face to face. God uses us the most when we are weak, because that is when we see how much we need Him. Paul knew that if he trusted in God during his trials, God would turn that trial into something to refine him.

When something is broken or cracked, it becomes of no value. But if someone comes and fills up the cracks with gold, it becomes of more value than it was before. During trials, we are broken. Trust in God and He will mold you and make you a new creation of more value than you were before. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Open up your life to Him. Let Him transform and change you during those trials. Trust in God and you will see Him work in an amazing way.

In Christ,
