Top Posts of 2014: #12- More of You, Less of Me

MoY

Hello people of the internet (I stole that from one of Wyatt’s posts…)! As I was thinking about what my post for today should be about, I was drawn back to my recent posts of how to change the world. So far, I have explained that we should focus on our own talents and that we should work as a team to make a difference. I realized, however, that I was missing a vital part of the process. Take a look at this song by Colton Dixon, titled “More of You”:

Wow. That is really all I could say after I heard that song for the first time on the radio. It truly wraps up all we need, more of God and less of ourselves. I don’t know which part of the lyrics to begin with, so I’ll just start at the beginning of the song:

I made my castle tall
I built up every wall
This is my kingdom and it needs to fall
I want you and no one else
Empty me of myself
Until the only thing that’s left is…

More of You
Less of me
Make me who I’m meant to be
You’re all I want all I need
You’re everything
Take it all I surrender
Be my king
God I choose
More of You and Less of me
I need more of you
More of you

Everything in that song is so true! Our kingdoms (our desires, our plans, our lives) all need to give way to God’s plan. We need to move out of the way and let God come in and fill the gaps. The longer I have been a Christian and have really dwelled on God’s Word and dug deeper, it is so painfully obvious to me that, without God, life would literally have no point. Nothing would be of value. Nothing. Everything would be complete chaos.
I need to stop myself, because I could go on forever. I’ll end with this: We all need more of God and less of ourselves. For a lack of better words, let it go. Let everything that is taking place of God in your life go, and surrender fully. Hold nothing back.
