“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
This past week, the leaders of our church got together for their quarterly meeting. One of the things they discussed was what roles the young men in our church should be taking on as they get older.
And that got me thinking about what you’re doing in your church. I would urge you to find some way to serve in your church. It can be as simple as being the chair stacker after the service is done. Some churches have more ways that people can help out than other churches. Our church has a potluck on most Sundays after service, so there are a lot of things that can be done! Tables and chairs have to be set up, utensils set out, trash put out, etc…not to mention the cooking! You can help out in the preschool area or sound booth.
Like Paul said in Romans 12, utilize your gifts! What gifts have God given you? Personally, he’s given me a talent and love for music, so I use that by playing for our church service regularly. There are many other people at our church doing the same thing. The people that have a gift for teaching teach.
Pray and ask God to show you what gifts have been given to you, then use those to serve the church.
How do you serve your church? Comment and let us know!
