As I was listening to some music this week, a song appeared that I thought I should share. It has quickly become my favorite song (besides “What Does the Fox Say?”…). Here is “Circles,” by Anthem Lights:

Apart from having a great beat, this song also has some great lyrics. Look at Verse 1:

Ready, set, go
This is take 37, let it roll
I’m gonna get it right this time
Gonna fight this time
This time I’m for real
Look at me go
I’m off, flying straight as an arrow
Then I feel the wind blowin’, gravity sets in
And I don’t know how to deal
I always start so strong…

Chances are that you have felt like this before in your life. You feel confident after many fails and you are ready to go. You’re pumped up. You’re going to do this. You start off great, but before you know it, something happens and everything changes.

Before you even know it
I’m right back at the start
Doing what I hate
And breaking my own heart
I’m going back and forth
And forth and back
And then round in circles
I was never meant to travel on my own
So no matter what I try, I’m trying alone
I’m going back and forth
And forth and then back
And then round in circles

Then, you’re right back at the start. Doing what you hate, but you can’t change anything. You’re just spinning around, and everything is hectic. You’re, well, going in circles. We were never meant to travel alone. For a lack of better words, no man is an island. We’re never meant to be alone. If you try anything without God, nothing works out. You may as well have never started. You’ll just go in circles.

If you feel like you are going in circles right now, just trust in God and lean on Him, and everything will be alright. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be trouble and hardships, but those will be a lot easier to deal with.

Howdy! I’m Collin, 16 years old, and a homeschooled junior. I play the piano, ukulele, and many sports. I’m far from perfect, and that’s why I love to share (through this blog) what God is showing me in His word. Although I have many favorite Bible verses, if I had to choose one it would be Romans 12:12, Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” I believe that prayer is the most powerful tool we are given as Christians and it should not be taken for granted. Toodles!
