“The mind of man plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
Oh man…I have to confess to you guys that right now, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.
There’s so much going on, and all of it is good! It’s just that there’s sooooo much school, not much sleep, and the future is looming.
What do I mean by the future? I mean life as I know it pretty much going away in just a few years because of the stage of life that I’m in. On top of all the stuff that I’m learning or doing that will benefit me right now, I’ve had to start switching gears with the next stage in mind. What do I want to do with my life? What does God want me to do? How has He gifted me to do certain things?
There are times when it eases up a bit and I’m just rolling with it. But there are other times when it “hits” me that the stage of life that I’m in is ending shortly. There’s so much to relish, enjoy, and learn in such a short period. It can be overwhelming!
It’s the times when I’m overwhelmed with school work and piano for church that I rely on God the most. It’s the times when I’m sad about leaving this stage of life and fearful of entering the next stage that my trust in Christ is multiplied. It’s the times when I am looking to the future and wondering what will happen that I have to rest in Christ and His Word.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
He’s got this. He is in control. We have to trust Him. I have to trust Him. Paul, in the New Testament, says that the strength of Christ is made perfect in our weakness…and that we should boast all the more gladly of our weaknesses, because when we are weak, He is strong! What an amazing assurance.
If you’re out there and looking at similar things ahead, or if you’re farther down the road but you’re encountering obstacles and you’re entering into something new, rest in Christ.
The wisdom of the verse at the top of the page is so true. We can plan all we want, but it is Christ who determines our steps. We have to surrender and let Him lead us.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:28
