If you are a teenager, chances are that you have not done anything really big for the world yet. You may be wondering if your time will ever come. Many people, however, do not stand out significantly to the world. Some work behind the scenes and make a difference much bigger than some people could make by themselves. Do the small stuff and the rest will follow!
Take Justin Bieber for example… Actually don’t. Let’s do Chris Tomlin. While he has a great voice and is obviously the “big cheese” of his band (which is also dubbed “Chris Tomlin”), it is obvious that unless he learned electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, and all the other instruments needed for a band, he would never be where he is today. Think of how hectic and confusing his concerts would be! Each individual in his band has a unique job to accomplish, and they do it together. And that is what makes them successful. Take a look at 1 Corinthians 12:20-25:
“…The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it…”
Just like each part of the body functions together, so does everyone in the Chris Tomlin band, or in any (successful) band. If anyone were to suddenly quit, the band (or your body) would fall apart.
Of course, you probably would like to go solo and change the world by yourself, but this hardly ever works. Just stick to what you’re good at and work with others to make a difference. If you are really good at violin and your friend is a talented singer, what good would it be for both of you to start your own bands? The two bands would not be worth listening to for long because one would be acapella, and the other would be just a bunch of violin music (I love violin, I’m just saying…). Form a team and work together for a common, yet achievable, goal. This is where you come in. The rest of your life is an unfinished book, how do you want it to be written out? Make a difference. Change the world.
