My Connection to the World

Hey, guys! This is a new Saturday series I’ll be doing. Just random stuff that I think about. It might get a little weird… Just kidding. ;P

Today is just a short essay I was required to write for my history class this past week. I hope you enjoy…

Writing about my connection to the world really got me thinking. How am I, a teenager from South Carolina, connected to such a big world? Family friends, who are missionaries in countries such as Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, and Myanmar, came to mind. I also thought of the tune to ‘It’s a Small World’. However, I realize that my connection to the world is stronger than a few missionary families. My connection is deeper and more personal.

“…And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the Earth” (Acts 1:8b ESV). Yes, I am only a wave in a sea of faces, but when I read the first part of the verse, which says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…” I realize something very important about my connection to the world. My personal connection to the world is the Holy Spirit. In my God, I am powerful. I have a connection with my brothers and sisters in Christ all over the globe. I may not know them all myself, but we have a common King, and a common mission. Even in my own town, I do not know all of the Christ-followers, but I am still connected to them. We have the commandment to “Go” and to “make disciples” (Matt. 28:20). When I have the opportunity to go, whether to New York City or to Romania, I will. I will to make those connections, to grow my little wave into a hurricane. Through the Holy Spirit, we are connected to the whole world, and have the responsibility to be witnesses to every human on the face of the planet.

My connection to the world isn’t only a physical one, I know people in many of the fifty states, and a few people all over the globe, but I have more connections through Christ. That is sometimes the only link two people can have, but that in itself is enough to change a country. I want to take my global connection, and through Him, change His world. Turn His people back to Him.

I know it was short, but I was only required 300 words… this is like 306… 🙂

Until next time,
