An Eternal Friend

Das Eternal Friend And Shtuff

As Summer ends and we all go back to school once again, many of you (if not all of you) will experience difficulties with friends. Fighting with your closest friends can sometimes even cause breaks in your relationships. On rare occasions, you may never want to see them again. Of course, a few days will most likely fix that issue and the two of you will go back to how it used to be, forgetting that that even occurred.

But, wouldn’t it be nice if you could have a friend who never fought with you, never hated you, never talked back to you, and loves you 24/7/365 for as long as you live? I’m sure you know who I’m going to say who this friend is, but I will anyway. God is your Father and he loves you. He wants you to grow close to Him and have a great relationship! Unlike any earthly relationship, you have the choice of deciding how it will turn out! Here’s the deal, God wants you to choose Him as your idol and have you follow Him, but He’s not begging you. He sent His only son for the one purpose of dying for you, but you can overlook that and deny having anything to do with God. If you do decide to have an intimate relationship with God, a major part of that is pouring your heart out to Him:

“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”

– Psalm 62:8

God is our refuge whenever we need Him. He’s like a big, teddy bear with arms wide open saying, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)”. Pour your heart out to God. Make sure that you tell Him everything. It’s a great relief to get everything “off of your chest”, so to speak.

Secondly, make an effort to spend time with Him. This includes your Quiet Time in the morning (Reading your Bible), praying whenever you can and just fellow-shipping with Him.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

– James 4:8

If you do this, I can guarantee that you will notice a difference. Spend time with God and make the most of it!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Howdy! I’m Collin, 16 years old, and a homeschooled junior. I play the piano, ukulele, and many sports. I’m far from perfect, and that’s why I love to share (through this blog) what God is showing me in His word. Although I have many favorite Bible verses, if I had to choose one it would be Romans 12:12, Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” I believe that prayer is the most powerful tool we are given as Christians and it should not be taken for granted. Toodles!
