“Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”
-Psalm 100:2
Most of us think of music as the only way to truly “worship” God. While this isn’t the case (we can worship Him in all we do), I do think that worshiping through music is an important part of honoring Christ.
Many of us can play instruments, and all of us, no matter how terrible we are (speaking from my own experience!), can sing praises to God. Next time you are playing an instrument or singing along with the radio, I encourage you to to worship Christ through it. It doesn’t even have to be Christian Music. You can worship Him through music by playing classical music and just praising Him for beauty and sound. It really enhances your time playing music.
Read the Psalm that David wrote about worship. David was a musician, and he used music as a way to personally worship the Creator.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.”
-Psalm 100
