What you didn’t know about the 2014 Winter Olympics…

If you’re like me, you’ve probably been watching the Winter Olympic Games that are taking place in Sochi, Russia. I love the Olympics (Winter or Summer) almost as much as I love the FIFA World Cup (which says a lot). So, I did some digging and found some Believers who are competing in Sochi. Below is a small list I compiled…I have no idea if the athletes below are the only Christians, but I couldn’t find anymore.

Kelly Clark:

Kelly Clark is still at the top of her sport even at her age of 30. She came to know Christ several years ago after a competitor in a snowboarding event Kelly was competing in encouraged her after she had made a mistake by saying, “Hey, it’s alright, God still loves you.” Kelly eventually talked to this woman some more, and she came to know Christ as her savior. She has used her platform to share Christ with others, and in Sochi, recently won the Bronze medal for the Women’s Halfpipe!

David Wise:

David Wise is a freestyle skier. He has won a Gold medal for the last three X-Games in the SuperPipe event. He is a youth pastor at his current church, and desires to be a full time pastor eventually.

Remember to pray for these athletes that they will be able to stand fast in the midst of trials and temptations, and that they will honor God with the platform they’ve been given.

In Christ,

Christopher
