Saturday Song Review: January (2)

Hello again! So, turns out I’ll do two Saturday Song Reviews per month.

Have you ever said something you later regretted? Or heard something that probably shouldn’t have been said? We all have. It’s amazing what power that words have. That leads us to our song:

Did you hear what they said?

They’ve made me feel like a prisoner, they’ve made me feel set free, they’ve made me feel like a criminal, made me feel like a king. They’ve lifted my heart to places I’d never been and they’ve dragged me down back to where I began. Words can build you up, words can break you down, start a fire in your heart or put it out.

The old saying “Sticks and stones can break our bones, but words will never hurt us.” is like saying that “I may be stupid, but I’m not dumb.” Obviously wrong, right? Words can do a lot more than hurt you, they can destroy you, but they can also save lives. I mentioned the amazing power of words. Hawk Nelson goes on to say “Let my words be life, let my words be truth. I don’t wanna say a word unless it points the world back to You. You can heal the heartache, speak over the fear. God, Your voice is the only thing we need to hear.”

Always remember, our words can save lives, or destroy them. What are YOUR words going to say today?
