Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

Happy New Year! Wow. I can’t believe that it is already 2014. We are never promised tomorrow, but it is cool to think about what things we were uncertain about before the year started and to look back and see how they “played out.” The important thing to remember is that God is in control no matter what happens. Having that assurance is something the world can’t give.

As I begin this year, I have challenged myself to read my Bible everyday for more than 10 minutes. I did an excellent job
of studying topics in the Bible and doing research. I did not do a good job of listening to God and deepening my relationship with Him. My goal last year was to read the Bible everyday. Unfortunately, if I sometimes hadn’t done it earlier in the day, I found myself at 11:58 PM hurriedly reading through a Psalm before the clock hit midnight…I’m sure some of you out there can relate.

This my challenge to you this New Year- never be content where you are spiritually. Not only is it unbiblical and disrespectful to the ONE WHO MADE YOU, it also hurts you in the long run. If you haven’t been reading God’s Word everyday, then make that your goal. If you’ve been reading it everyday, increase your time in it or read it twice a day. Don’t be content about your relationship with God until you get to heaven. He will bless you.

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. ” -James 4:8 ESV

Christopher

You’ve taken the words out of my mouth. Thank you for the encouragement!
I also have a similar resolution – to be consistent at having a regular “quiet time” every day this year – well, not going so well so far – but…

“My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”
    Psalm 121:1-2 KJV
